Workshop: Putting Your Degree to Work - Practical Career Strategies for PhDs

Sep 6 2007 - 4:00pm
Sep 6 2007 - 6:00pm

Think getting a Ph.D. means you are only knowledgeable in one area? That you are limited in the type of career you can pursue because of your degree? Guess again...

SoPS' Career Committee and the Graduate Student Resource Center are co-sponsoring a workshop aimed at helping PhDs develop a practical career strategy to suit their needs. The speaker at this event is Dr. Peter S. Fiske, an accomplished physicist turned writer, businessman and entrepreneur. He is a nationally recognized speaker and writer on the subject of leadership and career development for young scientists and engineers. From 1996 to 2000 he wrote the career advice column "Tooling Up" for the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and he currently writes the monthly on-line column "Opportunities" for the AAAS. A more detailed bio-sketch is attached below as a PDF file.
