Advocacy Committee
Current Members:
Lynn Talton - Chair
Abtine Tavassoli
The Advocacy Committee exists to identify and address problems and concerns of postdocs that should be brought to the attention of university administration. Typical problems most postdocs encounter are insufficient salary, housing problems, lack of childcare options, deficient mentoring, and visa troubles. By contacting committee members directly, or posting to the forum, postdocs can bring problems to the committee's attention.
The committee is always seeking new members. We typically meet no more than once a month over lunch to discuss any new issues and brainstorm potential solutions. If you are interested in joining this committee, email the chair, Lynn Talton: ltalton at mednet.ucla.edu
We are currently seeking new committee members. Let Lynn know if you'd be interested in joining.

Questionaire Performence
January 19, 2007 - 1:28pm — Anonymous (not verified)Questionaire Performence Interantional Office and feed back about US visa regulations on your visas
Our office, the Dashew Center for International Students and Scholars (DCISS), has the responsibility and privilege of serving you during your tenure at UCLA, particularly with reference to understanding and complying with immigration regulations and requirements.
We have developed a brief questionnaire to explore three areas. First, we would like to learn what impact U.S. immigration regulations and requirements have had on you since you have been in the U.S. Second, we would like to know about your needs while staying in the U.S. Finally, we would like to find out how we (DCISS) are doing in our efforts to serve your needs and provide you with advice and information about the current immigration regulations and requirements.
Your participation in this matter is completely voluntary, but we hope you will help us by completing this questionnaire. Your responses will help us determine how we can best improve our services and possibly offer recommendations to government agencies that will create a better experience for you and future students and scholars.
The questionnaire takes less than ten minutes to complete. We would appreciate having your responses by February 26, 2007. Here is the link to the questionnaire:

Please note no identification (example: name, UCLA ID#) will be attached to your response. I can assure you that all responses will be completely anonymous and confidential. If you have any questions or comments, please contact Dr. Shideh Hanassab, our Director of Research, via email at shanassa [at] saonet [dot] ucla [dot] edu.
We thank you in advance for your participation and want you to know how important we view your contribution.
Sincerely,
Bob Ericksen
