The hike is on! There’s now a 0% chance of rain until 1PM (when we expect to finish), but please be extra sure to arrive on time — we will start promptly to ensure our return before the rain starts later in the afternoon. You may wish to bring an umbrella and/or raincoat just in case.
The joint campus postdoc hike series is back for 2015! Join all LA-area postdocs and friends this Saturday, February 7th at 10 AM as we explore one of the most popular locations in all of LA LA land! This moderate, 5 mile round-trip hike with 1000 feet of elevation gain starts with a steep 150 step “hidden” staircase, proceeds through the neighborhood to exposed trails in Griffith Park, and ends on the hill just behind the Hollywood sign, with majestic views of both the city and San Fernando Valley!
Meet at 10AM at Beachwood Dr. & Westshire Dr., SE corner, Los Angeles, CA 90068. To ensure your on-time arrival, please take note of the important details concerning parking and shuttles below.
Come prepared with a signed waiver form, 2 quarts of water, a light snack, long pants, good walking shoes, sun protection, a camera, and a big smile on your face! The wavier form is available here, but we will also have extras at the meeting point. Furry friends are welcome too!
For more information about the trail sections inside Griffith Park, click here.
Directions: Take the Gower Street exit off of the 101 (Marked “Exit here” on the map) From there, you can proceed to the point marked “Meet here” and check the signs carefully before parking.
Since parking is sometimes difficult to find near the meeting point, you may instead wish to arrive 25 minutes early, park in the city, and use the DASH Beachwood Canyon service. The shuttle costs 50¢ each way, and the route is marked in green on the map.
To self-coordinate carpools, post on the LA Postdoc Community Facebook Page.
