For the next Nerd Nite event on Wednesday, August 27th at 7PM at the Mint on Pico Blvd., we’ve secured seats for four postdocs at a booth with the featured speaker: Brent Sherwood, Space Architect. Brent will be discussing the question “What should be the next big goal for human space exploration?” If you’re interested, read on.
Nerd Nite is a monthly event featuring fun talks tailored for a general audience and presented in a relaxed and casual atmosphere. For a fuller description, see this LA weekly article (which includes a shout-out to UCLA postdocs!). Since the article was published, the event has been selling out in advance with many attendees standing in the back. Event tickets ($10) can be purchased though the event website which also includes summaries of this month’s presentations and more information about Brent Sherwood.
On August 27th, four lucky postdocs will be seated at a table with Brent Sherwood to informally chat about human space exploration between talks. To inquire about this opportunity, email us at outreach at postdoc dot ucla dot edu. Note that you will be responsible for purchasing your own ticket to the event as well as any food or drink. Preference will be given to postdocs that indicate that they have never attended Nerd Nite before.
We’re also looking for postdocs interested in speaking at future Nerd Nite events. If this could be you, write us at outreach at postdoc dot ucla dot edu with a 2-3 sentence summary of your proposed topic.
