Hi everyone,

The Association for India's Development (AID), Los Angeles
Chapter ( www.la.aidindia.org) is proud to present the internationally
acclaimed Actress & Dancer, Shobana, in her latest fusion dance production
"Maya Ravan" at *4pm, August 11th* at the Sexson Auditoiurm, *Pasadena City
College*.

"Maya Ravan" is Shobana's latest Bhrathanatyam Dance Theater based
on the timeless Indian epic "Ramayan", where the conclusions of each story
though well-known, are arrived at with an intriguing twist in the tale.

The production is narrated in ENGLISH by the voices of great Indian
film artists like *Naseeruddin Shah, Jackie Shroff, Milind Soman, Suhasini
Maniratnam, Revathy and Rohini*. The concert carries a strong fusion element
to it through pieces to music from Spain, Western Classical and A.R.
Rehman's ever-popular Vande Mataram.

Shobana has been honored with the "Padmashree" award in 2006, one
of the highest civilian awards by the Govt. of India for her great
contributions to this timeless art. She has performed before pre-eminent
personalities like former U.S. President Bill Clinton as also the King &
Queen of Malaysia and alongside other greats like Ustaad Zakir Hussain,
Sonal Mansingh, Vikku Vinayak Ram and others.

The concert is a part of a nationwide tour of over 20 concerts
to help AID ( www.aidindia.org) , a non-profit organization, raise funds for
the many development projects we support in India. Founded in 1991, AID has
over 40 chapters and over 1000 volunteers in the U.S. AID is a volunteer
movement working on sustainable development initiating and
supporting projects in diverse areas such as health,
education, appropriate technology, organic farming and rural livelihoods;
passionate about human rights, environment, peace and social
justice; committed to ending poverty by fighting exploitation and nurturing
solutions.

In the words of Mahatma Gandhi, we hope you will support us in
