Who has tried any good long distance moving companies? I've been looking online, and there's so many of them. Are they all pretty much the same? I've heard of a company called budget van lines that compares different movers rates or something. But there are many sites like that:
http://www.zmoving.com/
http://www.movers-moving-companies.com/
http://www.freemovingquote.com/
etc
They all kind of look the same and seem to be offering the same thing. But they're going to be moving *my* stuff cross country after all, so I'm apprehensive about just letting anybody handle it (but I don't want to have to sell my kidney to afford it either). Been reading about my legal rights at protectyourmove.gov but I fell asleep two sentences in to it...can anyone just tell me a good mover they've used?? Thanks!

July 13, 2009 - 12:42pm — ajayI moved here from the midwest and saved myself the long drive using one of the container companies like Pod or Door-to-Door that you can pack yourself and they will deliver to your new residence and you can unpack it at the destination.
This service works out to be cheaper than renting and driving your own truck, and saves you the trauma of driving a truck across the country.
If you want to hire packers and a moving company, it will be more expensive... unfortunately, I have not recommendations in that respect.
Good luck!

July 16, 2009 - 2:21pm — arimokulaI found the website for budget van lines and gave them a call. They said they can find cheap rates if I can provide them with a flexible date for my move. I told them I had to look into it and would get back....

July 24, 2009 - 1:42am — paulsCheck out http://www.moverreviews.com/ some companies have quite a few reviews even after reading reviews whoever you decide to work with i'd google their name check the BBB online as well as both in the movers home county. My sister moved from AZ to NY but flew and packed her car with as much stuff as it could fit and shipped it. Where in NY are you moving to? I'd take as many personal and important belongings with you as possible, furniture and that type of stuff can always be replaced.
