Featured mentor: Prof. Wenyuan Shi

Dr. Shi is Chairman and Professor of Oral Biology at UCLA School of Dentistry and a Professor of Microbiology at UCLA School of Medicine. Therapeutic applications of the Shi group’s technologies include the development of peptide-based targeted antimicrobials and a rationally screened herbal library. These translational research efforts have resulted in six licensed technologies by major pharmaceutical and dental companies and two start-up biotech companies. Dr. Shi obtained his BS degree from Fudan University in 1984 and his PhD degree from University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1991, and completed his postdoctoral training at University of California-Berkeley. He has authored or co-authored over 100 scientific articles and is inventor or co-inventor of 12 issued patents.

To ensure a fully interactive experience for each attendee, attendance is limited to 10 postdocs/ graduate students per luncheon. If you are interested in attending, please include a 3-5 sentence statement indicating how your attendance will benefit your specific career interests.
