Suggestions for social activites

Hi everyone,

Firstly I'd like to say that I'm excited to be the new VP of Social Activites and would love to meet and get to know all of you in the coming months.

Secondly, I am looking for ideas and suggestions for social activites that we might do as a group, so please let me know what you think. We'll start with a pub night on the 3rd June (see separate post), and take it from there.

Best,
Jacob

Re: Suggestions for social activites

erm - how about these?

1) SoPS Critical Mass??

In case you have not heard of critical mass, see http://www.critical-mass.org/ - First friday of every month, there's a local critical mass http://santamonicacriticalmass.org/ that celebrates clean air. This one has a sub-group that begins at UCLA and goes towards Santa Monica... the idea is that if there are enough bikes, we have a critical mass to occupy a lane instead of getting sqeezed to the side of the road.
It would be nice to do something other than just beer and burgers or atleast earn our beers and burgers with a ride.

2) SoPS Game Nights? Well as a wise man once said "it looks like postdocs have a lot of time" - to celebrate this truth and unwind from our useless days, we could have PS2 /XBox game nights... i am thinking projectors, and multiple boxes hooked up in a super-multiplayer game. (maybe a nice way to make people look forward to mondays ;) ?)

More ideas as they arrive,

Ajay

Edit: Interesting how the picture tells about both critical mass and x-box :)
