international phone plans / calling cards

international phone plans / calling cards

Hi there,

Does anyone have any recommendations for international plans / calling cards, other than the standard plans that are available through the larger phone companies like Verizon, etc.?

Thanks,

Maija.

Re: international phone plans / calling cards

I would recommend using Skype from your computer to either a computer or a phone. The voice quality is better than a phone and the rates are very good - especially for people outside of the US calling a phone in the US. Calls from computer to computer are also free. You can even get a SkypeIn number so people can call your computer as if it were a phone line.

I do not work for Skype but here is the URL:

http://www.skype.com

My experiences with calling cards have not been good - either the quality has been pretty bad or the minutes seem to disappear.

I use cards from keepcalling dot com - they have some really reasonable rates for eastern europe and asia. Its a nice backup to have even to use from your cellphone when you are travelling.

Re: international phone plans / calling cards

I use 10-10-987
www.1010987.com.

it is e.g. 3 ct per minute to europe
plus 53 cents connection fee,

for longer calls it is worth the price, the quality is good and the call gets chareged direcly to your home phone bill (e.g. verizon), no plan, no additional monthly fee.

Hey everyone,

I wanted to add -- a friend recently mentioned this company too:

www DOT onesuite DOT com

No connection charges, etc.

You can choose a calling

You can choose a calling service based on reviews submitted by other customers at http://www.CallingBargains.com . I have found this website useful and easy to use. Available are reviews for most types of phone services (cellular, calling cards, etc), especially services from smaller companies.

http://www.voipcheap.com this

http://www.voipcheap.com

this is what i've been using for about 2.5 years.
5c to place a call (either from your phone or computer to the destination number), and talk for free for about 1 hour.
i.e. there is no per minute fee, and the quality is excellent.

(most countries are in the "free" list, i.e. no per minute fee., but even if your country is not free, the per-minute rate is usually 5-15 euro-cents)
