Got sourdough starter?

Got sourdough starter?

Hello folks,

I am on a mission to make my own sourdough bread. Anyone have a starter culture lying in their fridge/freezer or know of a bakery that sells/gives them away? Thought I would check locally before starting my own or writing to Carl's friends.

Thanks,

Ajay

Sure and a flurry of other sites. Some really good details of multiple techniques with pictures, pH and temperatures (if you are into this stuff) were at http://samartha.net/SD/index.html.

Anyway, instead of relying on amplifying a random strain of yeast, thought I would poll if there were good ones lying in somebodies freezer already. One of my own starter efforts is under way but has no guarantees of succeeding or turning out to have a respectable doubling time.

Cheers!

Ajay
