The Wadehra Laboratory in the Department of Pathology at the University of California, Los Angeles is seeking an outstanding post-doctoral fellow to work in the area of cancer biology. Our laboratory has 2 main focuses: 1) understanding how tetraspan proteins promote cancer stem cell formation and, 2) creating designer antibodies. Our work is funded for creating novel IgG1 antibodies for breast and ovarian cancers, and we are working with both in vitro and in vivo models.

Experience Required: The candidate must be highly motivated, independent and interested in our projects. The candidate must have PhD in molecular biology, cell biology or a cancer related field. Although not absolutely necessary, the ideal candidate will preferably have some experience with flow cytometry and in vivo tumor experiments. Expertise in microarray analysis, RT-PCR, mouse husbandry, and in tumor imaging are also a plus. The successful candidate will of course have mentoring so that career goals can be achieved, but must be able to independently generate hypotheses, design experiments to test the hypothesis, performs routine and more difficult procedures, analyze data and coherently present results in the form of presentations, abstracts, manuscripts and the basis for grant writing, preparation and submission. In addition, qualified candidates should have strong verbal and written communication skills, and a demonstrated record of scientific achievement through peer-reviewed publications. Successful, well-motivated candidates will join a highly interactive, interdisciplinary team of researchers with diverse backgrounds and expertise in a collaborative scientific environment. Preference will be given to individuals with these skill sets who are now completing their thesis work and have at least one high-impact publication.
