The Caltech Postdoc Association is organizing a hike up to Echo Mountain on Independence Day (Friday, 4 July) and you are invited! Echo Mountain is a 3000 ft (1000m) peak located behind Pasadena which can provide views as far away as Catalina Island if the weather is cooperative. Many cities in the area celebrate the 4th of July by shooting off fireworks, so we will be able to watch the fireworks from many different cities across the San Gabriel Valley and LA. However, we will be hiking up the mountain in the late afternoon and it will be hot and dry. Please come prepared with water. We will then hike back down in the darkness, so it would be wise to bring a source of light.
