Postdoc position in EPIGENETICS/CANCER (Brussels, Belgium, EU)

A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Laboratory of Cancer Epigenetics headed by François Fuks (ULB – Université Libre de Bruxelles/Open University of Brussels, Belgium).

You will be expected to conduct cancer research in epigenetics and epigenomics. Specifically, you will investigate the mechanisms and functions of a novel epigenetic modification. The following recent publication has direct relevance to this project: Delatte B, et al., Science. 2016; 351:282-5).

Genetic, biochemical and cell biological as well as genome-wide approaches (e.g. RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, Infinium Methylation) will be applied. The lab is running a Next Gen Sequencing Illumina platform (EPICS, it is part of the ULB-Cancer Research Center (U-CRC) directed by Prof. Fuks, and provides an excellent scientific environment to conduct high profile research.

We are looking for highly motivated candidates with considerable experience of molecular and cell biology. Applicants should hold a PhD degree in Biochemistry/Molecular Biology or related disciplines (or have recently submitted their thesis with their defence scheduled) and have published (or about to publish) in a peer reviewed journal. Experience of advanced RNA techniques would be an advantage.

Although not required, suitable candidates will be highly encouraged to apply for (inter)national funding during employment as part of their development towards independence for which sufficient help is available within the team.

The position is funded for 3 years. Screening of applications begins immediately and continues until an outstanding candidate is selected. Flexible starting date.

Informal enquiries, CV and names of two referees should be send to: Valentina Albarani (
