Hi fellow postdocs,

I need your help.

The UAW have filed a petition with PERB to represent UC postdocs as their exclusive union. We have to make sure that there will at least be a vote. Everyone who signed an authorization card and wishes to revoke it must write a letter to PERB right away. The deadline is August 14th.

Important: I spoke with our labor relations administrator and he said there is no way to confirm the signatures on the authorization cards that the UAW are submitting match the postdocs signature! In other words, they could fake your signature on a card, and it would count! The only way to guarantee your name won't be used to count is to send a letter to PERB.

I am pasting two letters below: The first is for those who signed a card. The second is for those who did not sign a card, but wish to guarantee that the union won't use their name. I encourage you to send one to PERB, and to share it with as many postdocs as possible.

I write to inform you that I do not want to be "represented" by the PRO/UAW union, do not wish to be a member of the PRO/UAW union, and do not support the PRO/UAW union in any manner. Please consider my opposition to representation by the PRO/UAW union to be permanent and continuing in nature.

I hereby revoke and rescind any union "authorization" card, or any other indication of support for the UAW union, that I may have signed in the past. Any such card or indication of support for the UAW union is null and void, effective immediately.
